Essay JudgesEssay judges are needed to score the team essays and city narratives. This can be done from the comfort of your own computer. The essays will be available for the judges to download from a webpage after Tuesday, January 15, 2013. The judges evaluate the papers and submit their scores back to our Judging Coordinator, Jeanne Harshbarger, (jeanne.harshbarger@washingtonfuturecity.org).Model and Presentation JudgesModel and presentation judges are needed to score the physical 3-D city model on the day of the competition. They will evaluate innovation, creativity, aesthetics, workmanship and the use of recycled materials. Presentation judges will score the team's verbal presentations based on their delivery of the presentation, the knowledge that the students are able to demonstrate, and how well the students work as a team. Model and presentation judging will take place in the morning on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Seattle Center. This is just a 1/2 day committment. Lunch will be provided for the judges. If you are interested in participating in the Future City Competition as a Model/Presentation Judge, please contact our Judging Coordinator, Jeanne Harshbarger (jeanne.harshbarger@washingtonfuturecity.org). Judge's ManualA Judge's Manual is available as a pdf file with judging criteria and scoring rubrics. A hard copy of the Judge's Manual will not be available this year.Judge's Orientation SessionThere will be a Judge's Orientation Session for the competition day model and presentation judges. All model and presentation judges are encouraged to attend. If you have been a judge in the past, it is not so important that you attend. We will be covering the same material that we have in previous years. For new judges, however, this is a great opportunity to get familiar with the program and get any questions answered that you may have. Judging manuals and sample judging forms will be available at the meeting. It would be great to have the returning judges attend to help answer questions and tell the new judges what to expect. Detailed information regarding time and location for the Judge's Orientation will be posted later. Competition DayPublic parking is located at nearby pay lots. Mercer Street offers the closest parking garages. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and trek across to the Northwest / San Juan Rooms. Lunch (pizza) will be provided for judges.
